Diabetes – type 1

Type one diabetes is a chronic condition in which body produces very little or no insulin. As we know our body cells need sugar (Glucose) to produce energy. Insulin helps sugar to enter cells in our body. Without insulin blood sugar cannot get into the cells, so cells do not get the required sugar Glucose) to produce energy and the sugar buildup in blood stream. Buildup of sugar in blood stream creates life threatening complications unless managed properly.

About us

When someone close to us gets diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, it comes as a shock. Most people never see diabetes as something that can occur to kids. Diabetes for most of us is a lifestyle decease affecting adults.

When the two types of diabetes—Type 1 and Type 2—are explained, it can be startling to realize how serious the Type 1 condition can be. In some cases, without timely recognition of sudden symptoms and prompt medical intervention, the consequences could be life-threatening. The initial period following a diagnosis is often challenging, as individuals and families work to adjust to a new reality and cope with the emotional impact that comes with it.
It has become increasingly evident that there is a significant lack of awareness about Type 1 diabetes among the general population. Individuals newly diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes often face difficulties due to limited access to reliable information, as well as a lack of social understanding and support for this chronic condition. Efforts to raise awareness and foster community engagement play a vital role in sharing knowledge, promoting support networks, and improving the overall quality of life for those affected. This site is an effort towards raising awareness about type 1 diabetes.
